Pup and Cat Co.

Pup & Cat Co. is a no-kill humane society, which means we do not euthanize animals for lack of space or for financial reasons, so we ensure that every adoptable animal finds a permanent home. We are a 501(c)3 organization and 100% of our income comes from donations and adoption fees. All donations are tax-deductible. We do NOT have a shelter facility or employees and ALL work is done by a limited group of volunteers.

We rescue animals from a variety of sources, including shelters, people who give up their pets, or off the streets where they have been abandoned. Until they are adopted, they are nurtured and socialized in Pup & Cat Co.’s limited network of foster homes, preparing them to easily adapt to life as part of a family. Since foster homes are limited, some pets are boarded and cared for at local vet clinics and boarding/daycare facilities.

To help these pets find permanent homes, Pup & Cat Co. holds adoptions each Saturday at two PetSmart locations (Mall of Georgia and Winder) as well as travels to pet adoption events such as the Atlanta Pet Expo, Woofstock and other local opportunities. All of our pets can also be seen on our website as well as on petfinder.com, adoptapet.com, allpaws.com, aspca.org and other adoption websites.

Pup & Cat Co. hosts and participates in a variety of fundraising events each year, including the annual “Paws for a Cause” an evening with music and auction items at the elegant Carl House in Auburn, our fall 5K Run/Walk/Hike at Fort Yargo State park, Doggone Fun Festival at Petsmart, a Christmas sale “Holiday Extravaganza” as well as booths selling pet items and t-shirts at both Atlanta Pet Expo and Woofstock.

Please LIKE us on our Facebook page ( www.facebook.com/PupandCatCo )! It is a great way to keep up with our weekly activities, new dogs we have rescued and our happy ending stories once the pets have been placed in a permanent home. There are also weekly updates all the dogs we have rescued or dogs we are trying to help. We also post information about weekly adoptions. The Facebook forum allows for comments, posts by members and much more.

Pup & Cat Co has teamed up with Leftover Pets, a local low cost spay/neuter clinic, in an effort to make sure more pets “get fixed” before they have unwanted litters. The program, which is funded through Pup & Cat Co., provides financial assistance to those who can’t otherwise afford to spay/neuter their pets; only Barrow County residents can apply. For information call Leftover Pets 800-978-5226 or visit www.leftoverpets.org .

We are in great need of foster homes and new volunteers for a variety of tasks. Please contact us for more information. Volunteering with animals is a great and rewarding experience and we hope to hear from you.

PUP AND CAT Co.'s Mission Statement is:

Protecting Unwanted Pets (PUP) AND Creating Adoptions Together (CAT).

Our group was founded approximately 20 years ago by Ursula Miller.  At that time we were known as the Barrow County Humane Society and in 1999 changed our name to Pup & Cat Co. Ursula and her volunteers have rescued, cared for and placed over 5 thousand unwanted, sick and mistreated dogs and cats. When asked why she does this task her only answer is out of love and respect for the animals.  One of the missions of the group is to educate the public about the large population of unwanted pets and the importance of spaying and neutering.
